A baseball like asteroid falls from the sky and smashes through the window of a boy named Josh. The "human capsule" is being commanded by Dave (Eddie Murphy) and his crew of 100 unemotional and highly intelligent aliens. As the aliens try to retrieve the orb from Josh and his mom, they learn how to feel and how it is to be human. Will the aliens learn enough not to push through with their plans of extracting the salt from the sea which will destroy the earth?

Upon breaking the news and with the lawyer present, Katie burns a CD from Osborne's computer containing valuable government information. Katie leaves the CD in the gym and two gym attendants, Chad (Brad Pitt) and Linda, find it. They blackmail Osborne for money but he is most unreceptive so they decide to take it to the Russians instead.
